Discover the Web.

Every day, you browse. But do you really know where you're going?

The web isn't just a collection of sites. It's a gigantic network, born right here in Geneva, at CERN. An invisible universe connecting your screens to the entire world.

This training takes you behind the scenes. How does a browser work? Why do some sites track your every move? What hides in the web's shadow zones? We explore, question, and experiment. And by the end, you'll build your own web page. Because you only truly understand what you've built yourself.

The network, a skeleton called the Internet

Before opening a browser, we understand what happens underneath. The Internet is a gigantic network of invisible roads. Every device has its address. Every piece of data travels in pieces. We discover IP addresses, routers, packets that take detours to reach their destination. The web becomes less magical. And much more fascinating.

The browser, your window to the web

Safari, DuckDuckGo Browser, Brave, Chrome, Firefox. These aren't just icons. They're gateways, each with its own rules. Some protect you. Others spy on you. We dissect how they work: URL, DNS, HTTP, HTTPS. Acronyms that stop being obscure. Because choosing your browser is already taking back control.

Cookies, the trackers we accept without reading

"Accept all cookies." We click without thinking. But what really happens? These small files remember everything: your logins, preferences, visits. Practical or intrusive? We create them, observe them, and finally understand what we accept when we click "OK."

Digital footprints, the trail we leave unknowingly

Every click leaves a trace. History, logs, cache. You're tracked and they call it "improving your experience." We simulate real-time tracking. We trace back to the IP address. We discover VPNs and Tor. And we understand why online privacy is something you must actively defend.

Deep web and dark web, the shadow zones

What Google shows you is the tip of the iceberg. Below: the deep web, invisible but often harmless. Even further: the dark web, a risky territory. We discuss it without drama. We understand the differences, dangers, and reasons for existence. Because knowledge is already protection.

From military project to social networks

The Internet, a military project? Tim Berners-Lee, a Geneva adoptee? We trace the thread of history. From early networks to browsers, from streaming to social networks that changed everything. And to mark the occasion, everyone creates their own web page, hosted in the depths of the deep web. Yes, really.

Browsing without getting trapped

HTTPS or HTTP? Suspicious link or legitimate? Strong password or sieve? We learn to spot warning signs. We enable two-factor authentication. We play detective with real scam attempts. Because on the web, the best protection is an informed eye.

Build to understand

Theory is good. But you only truly understand by doing. HTML for structure, CSS for style, JavaScript for interactivity. We open an editor, write code, see the result. And everyone leaves with their own web page. A first step behind the web's curtains. The beginning of another story.
